Insurance:

Navigating insurance can be a nightmare! I will be happy to help you with this. I am currently "in network" with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Many insurance companies offer “out of network” (OON) benefits to providers who are not paneled with them. If you have out of network benefits, I will gladly submit the charge to your insurance so that you can be reimbursed to save you the hassle of figuring out this process.  You will be responsible for the charge at the time of service. A cash discount rate is available for those not filing with insurance based on financial need.

Before our first session I encourage you to call your insurance and ask:

  • What are my mental health (sometimes called "behavioral health") benefits?

  • What is my deductible and have I met it this year?

  • Do I have a co-pay or co-insurance payment to the provider?

If your insurance is other than Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield you will want to ask:

  • Do I have out of network benefits and if so, what are they?

Q&A:

What is therapy like?

In sessions with my clients we talk, sometimes we laugh, we investigate, we practice new skills, sometimes we use creative methods or media or even find helpful apps. A lot of it will be working as detectives looking for patterns and discovering what is getting in the way of how and who you want to be and the life that you want to lead. As we do this, we will be able to also identify your unique strengths as a person and amplify them to help you overcome the barriers to your best life. Sometimes we actively practice new skills like calming ourselves, communicating more effectively, being in the present moment, or problem solving.

How often and for how long will we meet?

Counseling works best when you make a consistent initial investment by coming weekly. Occasionally people need more support and come several times a week for a few weeks to get to a more stable place. Weekly therapy for 2-3  months is generally very effective for the majority of issues that bring people into counseling. Sometimes if you are working on trickier stuff that has been bothering you for quite a long time this might require regular counseling for a more committed period. Once you experience the change that you are seeking in life, it is often helpful to come occasionally for "tune ups" to ensure you continue to thrive.

What is the fee for missing an appointment?

Appointments that are missed or not cancelled at least 24 hours before the session will be charged the full fee.

What payment methods do you accept?

Currently I accept cash, check, and HSA checks. Soon I will be accepting credit cards and there will be an option for you to pay online for services.
